Keyboards

The history of keyboard instruments can be traced back to the third century BC and the water powered "Hydraulis" organ. The development of keyboard instruments has continued right up to the present day and continues to be at the forefront of both acoustic and electronic music production. We are proud at Production Room to offer you probably the widest range of electronic keyboard instruments in the UK. Analogue synths, digital synths, digital pianos, controller keyboards, stage pianos, arranger keyboards, dual manual organs, and even vintage Moog synthesisers can be auditioned and evaluated in our showroom and our highly knowledgable sales engineers are always happy to share their years of experiance to make sure you get the right keyboard for your requirements.

At Production Room we stock all the major brands of keyboard instruments; Alesis, Akai, Arturia, Casio, CME, Dave Smith, Elektron, ESI Audio, Hammond, Korg, Kurzweil, M-Audio, Moog, Nord, Novation, Prodipe, Rhodes, Studiologic, Waldorf and Yamaha. The types sizes and functions of the keyboards we sell varies massivley. Controller keyboards are instruments which has come to prominence in just the last 10 years. Controller keyboards do not produce their own sounds, but instead trigger the sounds produced by other other sound generators, most comonly virtual instruments hosted within a computer DAW. Controller keyboards will output their information using either MIDI or USB connectors. Analogue synths can create lush densely textured sounds which are popular with dance and electronica producers. Although analogue synths are often limited in the number of notes and sounds they can play at once, the rich sound more than makes up for this.

Digital synths can simultaneously create more notes and sounds than analogue synths and have other advantages such as rock solid stable tuning, lighter weight and generally a cheaper price point. Digital synthesiser workstations can create and record entire arrangements from a vast arsenal of sounds and effect. The recording of external sources such as microphones is also now possible on some workstations. Stage pianos are practical alternatives to acoustic pianos for the gigging musician. A full compliment of 88 weighted keys can now accurately recreate the feel of an acoustic piano. Keyboard instruments come in many different sizes. Full size keys as well as smaller "mini-keys" are available and we can suply keyboards with 25, 32, 37, 49, 61, 73, 76 and 88 notes.
