The history of keyboards can be traced back to the third century BC and the water powered "Hydraulic" organ. The development of keyboards has continued right up to the present day and continues to be at the forefront of both acoustic and electronic music production. We are proud to offer you probably the widest range of keyboards in the UK that can be auditioned and evaluated in our 6000 square foot showroom. The type, size and function of the keyboards we sell varies massively. Recently there has been a rise in the popularity of controller keyboards. These keyboards do not produce their own sounds but instead trigger the sounds produced by other sound generators hosted within a computer DAW. Analogue keyboards can create lush densely textured sounds which are popular with dance and electronica producers. Although analogue keyboards are often limited in the number of notes and sounds they can play at once, the rich sound more than makes up for this. Digital keyboards can simultaneously create more notes and sounds than analogue keyboards and have other advantages such as rock solid stable tuning, lighter weight and generally a cheaper price point. Digital keyboard workstations can create and record entire arrangements from a vast arsenal of sounds and effect.
Using keyboards to record from external sources, such as microphones, is now possible and a full compliment of 88 weighted keys can now accurately recreate the feel of an acoustic piano. Our range of keyboards come in many different sizes with full size keys as well as smaller "mini-keys" available.
