Korg has always innovated in the synthesizer market from the days of the Korg MS10, through the legendary Korg M1 and now we see another breakthrough that will undoubtedly be a landmark for both Korg and the market in general. The Korg Kronos Synthesizer is available as the Korg Kronos 61 with a synth action, the Korg Kronos 73 with a RH3 Real Weighted Hammer Action and the flagship Korg Kronos 88 again with a RH3 Real Weighted Hammer Action.

The new generation TouchView graphical user interface is an 8" TFT, SVGA (800x600 dots) with adjustable brightness. This interface is full colour and a huge step forward from the Korg M3 range. This user interface makes the new 16 track Midi / 16 track audio recorder a dream to use.

Under the hood the Korg Kronos workstation breaks new ground with a powerful multi engine sound design system. In total the Korg Kronos holds 9 engines :

All these engines can be worked together to create new and unique sounds or separately using the internal 16 track sequencer or external computer based system. The internal controls have also been expanded to offer joysticks, sliders, knobs, switches, a ribbon controller, assignable pedals and of course the new high resolution full colour touch view. This touch view can also be used in the same way you would use a Korg Kaoss Pad. In addition the Korg Kronos boasts the ultimate effects suite allowing 16 simultaneous effects to run with 185 effect types to choose from.

Korg's revolutionary Karma algorithms are included with all the drum track enhancement found on the Korg M50.

The Korg Kronos for the first time has the ability to sample from any source, both internally and externally. The Kronos can import AIFF, WAVE, SoundFont 2.09 and AKAI S1000/3000 via USB. This gives the Kronos the ability to import samples from your previous work and enhance with the on-board processing.

The Korg Kronos also works hand in hand with external computer based systems with a DAW on screen editor available as a Free of charge download. In addition the Kronos can be used as an Audio Interface via USB when linked to your computer creating the simplest possible set-up.

Staff Review

Simply the best keyboard workstation ever made with a huge sound palette and integrated audio and midi sequencer. The ability to integrate the Kronos into your DAW is perfect and with 16 simultaneous insert effects the Kronos works well in studio and live. Used by many big tour bands the Kronos 88 delivers as a stage piano and synthesiser. The strong RH3 action stands up to the hammer of live performance and does the huge range of piano and vintage sounds justice. Quite simply try one... And fall in love
