Kurzweil expands stage piano series

Kurzweil and UK distributor Sound Technology have announced a new addition to the SP Stage Piano series.
Shipping now, Kurzweil's new SP3x utilises Kurzweil's powerful new MARA chip. Sitting above the SP2x in the range, the SP3x features 512 preset sounds including the triple-strike grand piano, rhodes, Wurlitzer and FM electric pianos, stereo strings, brass, guitar, bass, take 6 vocals, drums/percussion and a GM sound set.
The SP2x has been praised for its perfectly weighted balanced action, and the SP3x inherits this. With an 88-note full hammer-weighted action, the SP3x sounds feel like playing a piano. With aftertouch sensitivity, the SP3x allows more expressive playing for non-piano sounds like winds, strings and synths.
Effects have always been an integral part of the Kurzweil sound and the SP3x is loaded with 128 effect presets taken from the K and PC series, with better sound quality than many stand alone effects processors.
The SP3x also provides a sophisticated metronome as well as 60 built-in rhythms, which cover a broad variety of styles: pop, ballad, R&B, jazz, rock, country, latin, world, and so on. Ideal for both practicing and writing.
Like its little sister, the SP3x features MIDI over USB in addition to standard MIDI jacks, pitch and mod wheels, and four front panel knobs offering real-time control of sound. The SP3x's upgraded easy-to-read 2x20 character LCD displays sound and effect names.
Equally well suited for use on stage, at home, or in the studio, the Kurzweil SP3x is available now priced at £1199 including VAT.
