On the day of release and throughout the month of October, Record Reason Duo users will be naming their own price for their Reason 6 upgrade.
The Basic Idea
Ever since we announced Reason 6, we've been hearing from excited Reason users around the world. If you've got Reason 5 or earlier, this upgrade is going to be huge for you: you'll get our massive mixer, the Neptune pitch corrector and voice synth, guitar and bass amps, multiple parallell racks, audio recording and editing and more - as well as version six's brand new creative effects, 64-bit support, transpose features and a hugely expanded sound bank.
However, this is not all new to those of you who already own both Reason and Record. You already have audio tracks, amps, the mixer, and so on. So you may be saying to yourself "What exactly is this upgrade worth to me?" Now we're asking you that same question.
On September 30th, 2011, we're letting you name your upgrade price.
Wait. What?
That's right. If you own both Reason and Record you decide what you will pay for the upgrade to Reason 6. We trust you to decide what Reason 6 is worth to you. Whatever you decide, that's what you'll pay*.
What you'll be pricing
To owners of both Reason and Record, the Reason 6 upgrade adds Pulveriser, a sound crushing effect with crunchy compression, dirty distortion and flexible modulation; The Echo, advanced stereo echo with modern, analog and tape delay emulation; and Alligator, a three band pattern gate for complex rhythmic texturing. Interface enhancements, high definition audio transpose, a massively expanded sound bank and true 64-bit compatibility are just the icing on the cake.
Here's how it works
- On September 30th a Reason 6, Reason Essentials and Propellerhead Balance are released. Owners of both Reason and Record will be invited to name their price for the Reason 6 upgrade.
- The Pay What You Want offer is valid from the release September 30th, 2011, until October 31st, 2011.
- Owners of both Reason & Record are eligible for this offer. If you own Record Reason Duo, or Record for Reason Owners, you qualify for this promotion.
- Name your price. Just one of the new effects in Reason 6 would cost an arm and a leg as a standalone plug. But if you're a student with limited funds, we understand.

When the campaign has ended, owners of Reason and Record will be able to upgrade at the regular upgrade price too. The Reason 6 Upgrade is available in music stores worldwide and from our own web shop September 30th, 2011.
