Steinberg August Masterclass

In the second of a series of masterclasses, the UK team will once again visit Production Room, this time to discuss how computer software can faithfully reproduce acoustic sound ranging from real vocals to full orchestral arrangements.
For the first time, Steinberg have teamed up with Australian microphone manufacturer, Rode, in order to demonstrate how choosing the correct microphone and placement can bring about dramatic differences in sonic characteristics when recording live vocals, acoustic guitar and other instruments such as violin. Also under discussion will be the use of microphone pre-amps and application of effects such as compression and eq.
This event will also feature the UK-wide launch of 'The Grand 3' our incredible, new sampled grand, upright and electronic piano Virtual Instrument. We'll be demonstrating how to ensure that your piano sounds sit comfortably in the mix and, as The Grand 3 is one of only a handful of surround-capable Virtual Instruments, we will also be discussing the capabilities when mixing in surround. The latest release of Halion Symphonic Orchestra will be providing an orchestral accompaniment to this event and we will be demonstrating how this amazing Virtual Instrument can be used in any musical genre rather than simply for orchestral works. With the release of Cubase 5 and Cubase Studio 5 earlier this year, we saw the addition of a brand new MIDI insert - 'Beat Designer' - and we will be showing how this great tool can be used to provide a means of getting the very best from third-party acoustic drum Virtual Instruments such as BFD and Superior Drummer.
This masterclass is all about creating and recording music featuring real instruments and their software counterparts. What's more is that many of the techniques under discussion can also apply to other software titles - there really is something for everybody!
As ever, the Steinberg UK team will be on-hand to answer any questions you may have and to provide a wealth of tips and tricks on the use of our software and hardware products.
Places will be limited - please contact Production Room on 0845 539 3000 or email info@production-room.com to reserve your place.
